Effective governance in an NHS Trust
A one-day grounding in the principles and practice of governance for secretaries and their boardroom colleagues in the NHS

Who is this course for?: Directors and board secretaries in the NHS, directors and NEDs of policy or healthcare, finance directors, chief executive officers, and anybody who advises or serves an NHS board

Duration: Full day  CPD: 6 hours

Governance in the NHS is about more than good clinical practice; it's about boards working effectively to drive up standards, secure value for money and improve delivery to patients and other stakeholders. As the NHS embarks upon the most radical shake-up in its 60-year history, good governance has never been of greater importance.

This one-day course examines NHS Trust governance from first principles to best practice. Delegates will consider among other things the relationship between governance and operational issues; the roles, relationships and workings of the Trust board; accountability to and engagement with stakeholders; and issues of confidence, integrity and assurance.

For more on governance in the NHS, we recommend also our related course, The NHS Trust Secretary and Understanding Finance in an NHS Trust .
